Flora Nell Sanderson Smith
SAVANNAH - Flora Nell Sanderson Smith entered her final resting on August 3, 2013 at the Arbors memory care facility at Savannah Commons in Savannah, Georgia. She ascended peacefully to heaven, surrounded by her loving family.
She was pre deceased by her parents Paul and Peggy Sanderson and niece, Valerie Gaddy. She is survived by her husband Reginald Lowell Smith, daughter Paula Echols Abshire, son John Clark Reising, Grand children, Brigitte Elisabeth and Chandler Bear Echols, Sister Glenda Gaddy Johnny, brothers Paul Michael Sanderson Sarah Lee and Johnny Richard Sanderson, nephews, Mark Gaddy Karen, Danny, Christopher, and Ricky Sanderson. Nieces Fran and Shelly Sanderson. Special Friends Georgia Moore, Pat Richardson and Debby LaPierre.
Nell was a loving, caring wife and mother, with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved crocheting, reading, cooking, calligraphy, gardening, bird watching and entertaining family and friends. She retired from Robeson Community College in 2001 where she worked as an executive assistant for 29 years, many of which as assistant to the President, Mr. Fred Williams. Upon retirement, she moved to Savannah to help raise her grandchildren and help her daughter.
A visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held in Lumberton, NC.
Donations can be made in Mrs. Smith's honor, to the Alzheimer's Association or to the David Jimenez Open Golf Tournament benefiting the Coastal Georgia Alzheimer's Association. Arlenejimenezretired@hotmail.com

I had the privilege of working with Nell at Robeson Community College and followed her in the position of Executive Assistant to the President. I also visited her in Savannah with Georgia Moore and will always have fond memories of our time with Nell. My heartfelt condolence to her family. She will be greatly missed.
